- Sales - You will naturally start making sales quicker with SEM. Ads are generally approved within one to three days, so theoretically you could make sales as quick as tomorrow. SEM can be expensive since you are paying for each ad click, so long-term it's less profitable.
- Click fraud - Click fraud is the act of competitors or publishers clicking your ad without an intent to purchase a service or product. This can be common at times, and careful work must be done to show ads only to certain markets to avoid chances of click fraud. This atrocity is not prevalent in SEO.
- Conversions - Conversions from PPC may be hard to achieve. The campaign must not only be profitable, but must make enough money that you can offset the costs of running ads. Special work must be done to create landing pages and lead generation techniques.
- Profit margins - Profit margins in SEO get to a point where it's all profit. This isn't the case with direct advertising. If your service or product doesn't have high enough markup, SEM might not even be a valid choice for your business.
